Barolo "Mosconi" by Chiara Boschis E. Pira & Figli is one of the most representative bottles of the cellar located in the heart of the Langhe. “Mosconi” is the oldest cru owned by the Pira family and is located in Monforte d'Alba. Over the generations, the corporate strategy has always been to take possession of the most suitable lands , to create a wealth of properties that had the very high quality of the grapes and vines as a common denominator. Thus, between the Municipalities of Barolo, Monforte and Serralunga, the vines wind their way and with care and dedication are still managed today by Chiara and Giorgio Boschis, with great skill that plays between ancient knowledge and innovative techniques that allow progress in preservation of the ecosystem.

The Barolo "Mosconi" is made up of only Nebbiolo grapes. The “Mosconi” vineyard is located in Monforte d'Alba, with vines that are on average 45 years old, on typically Elvetian soil, characterized by clayey-calcareous marl with some silicon layers. The plants are at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level. Fermentation is spontaneous through indigenous yeasts , in steel tanks with the cap emerged. The refinement phase lasts at least two years in small French oak barrels, which are lightly toasted. Subsequently the wine matures another year in the bottle.

The "Mosconi" Barolo by Chiara Boschis E. Pira & Figli plunges the eye into its very deep red, with accentuated garnet reflections. Once poured into the glass, it is a riot for the sense of smell: the fruity notes of cherries and berries make up a perfect symphony with the intense floral notes of dried roses and violets. The other secondary and tertiary scents then gradually emerge, such as the deep tobacco, the lively coffee and the more herbaceous ones of root. It is an elegant and austere bouquet, as only a Barolo can be. And it proves this also in the mouth, where the power is tangible, with strong tannins, a remarkable length and a gustatory richness that bewitches.
