Grapes from the historic single vineyard of 'Cerequio', one of the most important MGAs in the entire Barolo production area. Our parcel is located in the municipality of Barolo facing south at an altitude of approx. 350 m. asl; a density of about 4,600 plants per hectare on an area of about 1 hectare. The vines have an average age of around 35 years. The soil is calcareous-clayey with the presence of Marne di Sant'Agata. 2018 is the first vintage of this very important Vietti cru. Vinification: Strictly manual grape harvest on 5 October 2018. After soft pressing, fermentation lasts about 3 weeks in a steel tank in contact with the skins. This time includes pre- and post-fermentation maceration using the traditional submerged cap method. The malolactic fermentation is carried out in wood. Ageing: approximately 32 months in barriques and large oak barrels. Bottled without filtration.
Description: Intense ruby red. The nose is intense, with notes of ripe red fruits and very fine spices. On the palate it is full, fruity and citrus notes are perceived (strawberry, plum, cherry). The tannin is fine and imposing at the same time to support an enveloping and persistent structure. All the harmony and complexity of one of the most important crus of the land of Barolo stands out. Balsamic notes are perceived on the finish which give life to a wine of rare elegance and balance.
Pairings: Red meat, roasts, game, braised meat, aged cheeses.
