Location and terrain Location Mazzon, known by us as “Mason” to avoid confusion with the town of the same name above Egna; here, in a truly unique position, four hectares are planted with Pinot Noir: a plateau at 400-450 m asl facing south, kissed by the sun and caressed by constant breezes. Ideal prerequisites for Pinot grapes with tight bunches. The soil is sandy with the presence of debris of different origins: dolomite, porphyry, gneiss and granite whose grain varies from the grain of rice to the stone as big as a fist. Vintage 2020 brought us an early harvest with good qualities and good quantities. The sprouting was not very early, but a very hot spring and a balanced summer were optimal for the development of the vines, so much so that we started harvesting as early as 25 August. During the harvest, there were repeated phases of rain, but with our quick thinking and our meticulous selection work, we were able to bring excellent qualities to the cellar. Physiological maturity was almost perfect, sugar maturity and acidity in an ideal range. A very balanced vintage. Mid September we were able to harvest our Pinot Noir with perfect ripeness. The yield per hectare was 42 hl.

Vinification Each batch of grapes from the different plots was processed separately. The fermentation of the crushed grapes took place spontaneously in wooden vats thanks to indigenous yeasts. Maceration lasted two weeks, with fulling performed once a day. The aging in wood for 16 months took place in barrique, with a presence of only 20% of new wood; the wine remained in contact with fine yeasts all the time. Only afterwards the individual batches were cut, selecting only the best barrels for Mason di Mason. Bottling 17,200 bottles

Analytical values Residual sugars: 1.2 g / l Acidity: malolactic fermentation carried out 6.1 g / l
