Alta Langa DOCG "M+M Perpetuelle Sbagliato" 2018 – Enrico Serafino
Innovation, tradition, and territorial identity in a single, surprising cuvée.
M+M 18 Perpetuelle Sbagliato is the Alta Langa you don't expect: created by winemaker Paolo Giacosa, this label breaks the mold while remaining faithful to the precision and elegance of the Piedmontese Classic Method.
The blend is made up of 85% wine from the 2018 vintage, aged 30 months on fine lees in steel tanks, while the remaining 15% is a perpetuelle fraction obtained from a blend of vintages between 2015 and 2020, also aged in steel tanks.
Tasting notes
Nose: complex and articulate, with notes of citrus, bread crust, white spices, and ripe fruit
Palate: dry, linear, savory, full and vibrant, with a decisive yet harmonious sip
Dosage: 0.8 g/L (Extra Brut)
Method: bottle fermentation according to the Classic Method, with a base wine vinified in steel and long maturation
The result? A sparkling wine of great aromatic power, gustatory depth, and extraordinary freshness, combining the mineral tension of young Alta Langa with the roundness and complexity of a mature Classic Method
Why Sbagliato? The method is inspired by perpetual vinification (like the solera system), but it has been adapted to comply with the Alta Langa regulations. Hence the irony of the name: "Perpetuelle Sbagliato" (Perpetual Mistake), meaning a conscious and proudly unconventional innovation.
Pairings: Perfect with rich fish dishes, crustaceans, white meats, aged cheeses, and also throughout the meal for those who love gastronomic bubbles.
