Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG “Ca’ di Pian” 2022 – La Spinetta

A pure and authentic expression of Piedmontese Barbera, the “Ca’ di Pian” 2022 is born in the heart of the historic area of the appellation, between Castagnole delle Lanze, Costigliole d’Asti, and Montegrosso d’Asti. The vineyards, located at an altitude of 300 meters on marly-calcareous soils with a southern exposure, boast an average age of 40 years and are managed with low yields to maximize fruit quality.

After fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks for about 15 days, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and aging in second-passage French oak barriques for 12 months. This is followed by a minimum of 6 months of bottle rest, without filtration or clarification, to preserve its aromatic integrity.

In the glass, it presents an intense ruby red with violet reflections. The nose is broad and deep, with enveloping aromas of ripe wild berries, plum, cherry in spirit, rosehip, and light sweet spices and herbaceous notes. The palate is structured yet velvety, rich in fruit, with a beautiful acidic tension that provides balance and lengthens the persistent and harmonious finish.

A Barbera d’Asti with a decisive yet elegant character, ideal for accompanying important main courses, braised meats, aged cheeses, and pasta with ragu.
