SOIL Castello di Brolio is our great wine. It comes from the maximum selection of Sangiovese grapes from the vineyards adjacent to the castle of Brolio itself, which rise on three main geological formations: Macigno del Chianti (sandstone), Scaglia Toscana (galestro), Monte Morello (alberese).
SEASONAL PERFORMANCE Autumn and winter were mild and with significant rainfall. Temperatures are normal in spring, except for two hailstorms at the end of May which caused the loss of flowers, thus reducing the production per plant. The summer months were hot and dry, interspersed with rainy events that gave the plants breath, helping them in the veraison phase. The harvest period was characterized by medium-high temperatures for the period during the day and with temperature drops of 10 ° C-15 ° C during the night, favoring the accumulation of phenolic compounds.
HARVEST The Sangiovese was harvested from mid-September to mid-October and the Abrusco in the first ten days of October. VINIFICATION Fermentation and maceration on the skins in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 24 ° C27 ° C, for 14-16 days. AGING 18 months in tonneau of which 30% are new.
