Isola dei Nuraghi IGT White "Sa Mama e su Sole" 2024 – Ilaria Addis
“Sa Mama e su Sole” is the luminous, lively, and sincere expression of Vermentino from Sardinia according to Ilaria Addis, a young and talented vigneronne who works in symbiosis with the land and its rhythms. This white wine comes from a micro-parcel located in the highest part of the vineyard planted in 1992, on acidic granite soils, over 300 meters above sea level.
The vineyard is managed in a radically natural way: no treatments, not even copper or sulfur, spontaneous grass cover maintained by a flock of sheep, and an agronomic vision that prioritizes soil vitality. The harvest is manual, in mid-September, with grapes collected in small crates and immediately brought to the shade of the cellar.
Vinification is artisanal and respectful: spontaneous fermentation, no fining or filtration, manual pressing with a traditional press, regular battonage, and aging in steel on the fine lees until March 2024. Slight sulfitation only during maturation, no intervention before bottling. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally.
Produced in only 1300 bottles, "Sa Mama e su Sole" is a wine that vibrates with Sardinia, speaking of herbs, sun, wind, and rock. On the nose, it expresses aromas of Mediterranean scrub, ripe citrus, medicinal herbs, and a light smoky note. On the palate, it is tense, saline, profoundly textural, with a long savory finish that tells the story of the granite and the island's light.
