Chief Martin takes its name from the hill purchased in 1991 in the heart of the Gorizia hills; vineyard of 7.5 hectares renovated from 1996 to 2003 with the same traditional varieties.
Aging: "It was born from the idea of obtaining a blend of different varieties vinified in the traditional way as my father Angelo did, with a short maceration on the skins, fermented and aged in oak barrels for about 10 months and marketed two years after the harvest".
Tasting exam: Capo Martino blend of native white grapes of our Region. “Of a beautiful bright and sparkling golden yellow colour. Intense and complex bouquet with notes of local and tropical ripe fruit and withered flowers touched by a light veil of vanilla. Apple, banana, hazelnut, broom and passion flower emerge. In the mouth it is velvety. It has a perfect gustatory balance, a delicate aroma, an infinite persistence. Excellent with chickpea purée and octopus sautéed with rosemary”. (Duemilavini Guida 2006 AIS, Capo Martino 2003)
Historical notes: With the 1991 harvest we produced the "Little Dream towards a Promised Land" for just one vintage, to commemorate the "journey" of great-grandfather Anton, undertaken 110 years earlier, from Bilijana (now Slovenia) to Villanova. The "Little Dream" resumed the traditions and manual skills of past generations. The label expressed the elements dear to the agricultural world: the sun, water, grapes as fruit of the earth and fish as a sign of religiosity.
All this thought and philosophy continued with Capo Martino to obtain a wine that always expresses elegance with body and complexity with hints of rusticity that recall past work.
With the 2016 harvest, Capo Martino celebrates its first 25 years.
With the 2016 vintage, Capo Martino obtains 3 glasses and is proclaimed White Wine of the Year by the Gambero Rosso Guide, 2019 edition. the same vintage the 4 vines of the AIS Vitae Guide and obtains the "Grande Vino" recognition of the Slow Wine guide, finally the Corona with the Vinibuoni d'Italia Guide dedicated to the vines
