Grapes from the historic MGA 'Brunate' vineyard in the municipality of La Morra, on the southern slope towards Barolo. The soil is calcareous-clayey (marl of Sant'Agata) and an altitude between about 300 and 400 m. asl. The average age of the vines is 55 years, cultivated in the Guyot system with a density of around 4,600 plants per hectare.
Vinification: Strictly manual grape harvest on 5 October 2018. After soft pressing, fermentation lasts about three weeks in a steel tank in contact with the skins. This time includes pre- and post-fermentation maceration using the traditional submerged cap method. The malolactic fermentation is carried out in wood.
Aging: Approximately 32 months in total between barriques and large oak barrels. Bottled without filtration.
Description: Intense ruby red. The nose is explosive, powerful and broad. Fruity notes of plum, citrus of cedar and grapefruit but also spicy are perceived. As the minutes pass, hints of violet are perceived in the glass, characteristic of the Brunate terroir. On the palate it is full and intense. The tannin is soft, round, velvety, typical of the La Morra area. On the finish perception of licorice root.
