CASTELLO DI PERNO
BAROLO DOCG "CASTELLETTO" GREGORIO GITTI 2016 - CASTLE OF PERNO
BAROLO DOCG "CASTELLETTO" GREGORIO GITTI 2016 - CASTLE OF PERNO
Castello di Perno offers its panoramic view of the vineyard hills of the homonymous sub-area, a vast territory of 190 hectares, ranking third in terms of extension after Bussia and Bricco San Pietro. However, in addition to being a sumptuous residence, the Castello di Perno represents a significant chapter in Italian cultural history. It was, in fact, the headquarters of the Casa Editrice Giulio Einaudi, a residence intended for the study and artistic expression of the writers associated with Einaudi. Furthermore, it was a place of seminars and meetings which brought together the most brilliant minds of Italian culture in the period following the Second World War.
Currently, the Castello di Perno is owned by Gregorio Gitti and hosts a wine project that complements its role as guardian of culture. Attention to contemporary arts is an integral part of its mission. As for the wines, Castello di Perno respects tradition as a precious heritage of specific techniques and knowledge of the historic terroir, but interprets this tradition with a "neoclassical" sensibility, an approach that is renewed over time, recognizing that wines are born , age and improve, just like individuals.
