The 2021 vintage in Bolgheri was characterized by a prolonged dry period from June until the end of September. However, unlike 2017, the particularly rainy winter contributed to significantly increasing the water reserves of the deep soils that characterize the area, providing the vines with the right support for the entire production phase. The spring, which was generally cool, favored a slight delay in budding and subsequent flowering. Summer temperatures have never been excessive, allowing for slow and regular ripening of the grapes in each vineyard with excellent levels of integrity and health. The Vermentino harvest took place between 10 and 30 September, in a graduated manner as usual; in this way the grapes harvested initially are richer in acidity and floral aromas while those harvested subsequently show riper berries and concentrate in extract and citrus aromas.

Vinification Each parcel was harvested separately, depending on the level of ripeness of the grapes, in order to enhance the complex territorial characteristics of each vineyard. Upon arrival at the cellar, the grapes were destemmed, delicately pressed and softly pressed. The must obtained was transferred to stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation took place at a temperature of 16°C. The different lots were carefully and regularly evaluated and assembled. The Vermentino of Tenuta Guado al Tasso was bottled in January 2022. Historical Data Tenuta Guado al Tasso is located in the small and prestigious DOC of Bolgheri, on the coast of Alta Maremma, about a hundred kilometers south-west of Florence . This denomination has a relatively short history (born in 1994) but boasts an international reputation as a new point of reference in the world wine scene. Tenuta Guado al Tasso extends over an area of 1,000 hectares - approximately 320 planted with vineyards, the rest cultivated with wheat, sunflowers and olive trees - in a splendid plain surrounded by hills known as the "Bolghera amphitheatre" due to its particular conformation. The Guado al Tasso vineyards are mainly composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Vermentino grapes, the latter cultivated with both white and black grapes. They enjoy a mild climate due to the nearby presence of the sea: the constant breezes mitigate the summer heat and the rigors of winter, clean the sky and keep the sunshine index high. The first vintage of Vermentino produced at Tenuta Guado al Tasso was 1996. Tasting Notes Vermentino from Tenuta Guado al Tasso has a straw yellow color with greenish reflections. On the nose it expresses a beautiful aromatic intensity, there are hints of citrus fruits, white flowers and tropical fruit. On the palate it is savory and persistent, with a fresh and pleasantly citrus finish.
