Explore the Etna Rosso DOP Munjebel CR, an authentic oenological masterpiece signed by Frank Cornelissen. 2018 vintage, alcohol 13.5%, 100% Nerello Mascalese. This unique wine has roots in the Campo Re vineyard, located in the western north valley of Etna, at the entrance to Randazzo. The altitude of 735m above sea level, the deep soil and the north-facing position make this cru a fascinating challenge in humid vintages, giving a unique complexity to the wines. The purity of Nerello Mascalese is expressed in an intense and tannic way, with a more foggy and slower-to-reveal personality than other crus.
This authentic expression of the territory features vines with an average age of over 70 years, planted in the Campo Re district. The winemaking is a work of art: destemming and light pressing of the grapes, fermentation with indigenous yeasts and 50 days of contact on the peels. Maturation takes place in neutral fiberglass tanks of 1200 to 2,500 liters for 18 months, followed by another 18 months in the bottle. Without fining, the wine is filtered before bottling with 5 micron PP cartridges. Sulfur levels vary from 15 to 50 mg/l, depending on the quality of the grapes and the stability of the wine.
Etna Rosso DOP Munjebel CR is produced in limited quantities, with an annual production of around 2,000 bottles since its first vintage in 2015. To best enjoy this authentic jewel, the recommended glass is the Zalto Burgundy, which offers a sensorial experience unique.
