Federico Staderini describes it as follows:

SEMPREMAI SORTE the rustic abrostine. 

Grim, skin and bones like wild rose or sloe, abrostine comes precisely from the domestication of a wild grape: Pliny the Elder's labrusca (N.H. XIV, par. 93) and 'Vitis vinifera ssp. sylvestris' in botany. Here, it is planted on a sunny slope yet sprouts late and ripens very late, being serotine by nature. 

The chilly harvest of these sparse and scattered bunches comes after October 20, with the beech trees in the Apennines already in their autumnal cloak like Casentino wool fabric, and sometimes snow. 

Abrostine grapes, very rich in color and natural tannins good for the heart and circulation but potentially rough, are entirely destemmed by hand into open tonneaux and immediately stomped with feet to facilitate the extraction of anthocyanins in the first 3 days of maceration. 

Drawn off early and aged long in wood, SEMPREMAI is hand-bottled like all our wines and comes out after at least 2 years in the bottle.
