Ovada DOCG Dolcetto “1919” 2021 – Alvio Pestarino

“1919” was created to celebrate the winery's centenary, representing an authentic and refined expression of Dolcetto. The grapes come from a single vineyard with an East-South East exposure and are hand-harvested, selecting the best bunches at full ripeness.

In the cellar, a soft destemming and crushing is followed by spontaneous fermentation on the skins in barrels for 10–12 days, with frequent punch-downs and pump-overs. Malolactic fermentation takes place in large French oak barrels, where the wine rests for at least one year, thus completing its evolutionary journey.

Visually, it presents an intense ruby red, embellished with purple reflections. The nose reveals hints of ripe fruit, accompanied by spicy, balsamic notes and nuances of vanilla. On the palate, it is pleasant and fresh, with a slightly bitter finish typical of the grape variety, which gives it character and recognizability.

A wine capable of evolving over time, maintaining its charm and balance even after several years in the bottle.
