The exclusive Champagne "Particules Crayeuses" by Waris-Larmandier comes to life through 100% Chardonnay, coming from the prestigious grapes of five Grands Crus of the Côte des Blancs: Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Oger and Mesnil-sur-Oger. The distinctive character of this Blanc de Blancs is shaped by the chalky soils, from which the name "Particules Crayeuses" derives, giving it a unique freshness and minerality. The olfactory bouquet evokes hints of almond, with predominant shades of iodine, hints of lemongrass and chalky notes, accompanied by a mix of almond, dried apricot and fresh butter. On the palate, a harmonious balance is manifested thanks to the discreet dosage (5 g/l), offering delicious sweet almond flavours.
The story of Waris-Larmandier is a fascinating tale of a family of winemakers from Avize, now in its sixth generation. The Domaine, founded in 1989 by Marie-Hélène and Vincent Waris, was led for a long time by Marie-Hélène after the untimely death of her husband. Currently, the management of the Domaine is shared with the three children Jean-Philippe, Pierre-Louis and Inès, who have introduced a modern breath of innovation in production and winemaking choices. The 6-hectare vineyard is divided into 34 parcels, ranging from the best terroirs of the Côte des Blancs to the Aube, with a particular mention for Chamery, a Premier Cru village in the Montagne de Reims, cultivated with Pinot Noir. The agricultural and cellar practices follow the principles of biodynamics, with the aim of advancing towards increasingly sustainable and integrated production in the territory (Ecocert and Demeter certified). Waris-Larmandier Champagnes embody a distinctive and original personality, reflecting the extraordinary identifying character of the Grand Cru of Avize.
